The south side of Tate Modern recently underwent a major transformation with the opening of the Switch House and landscaped gardens. The work was completed in June 2016. The gardens continue the silver birch tradition established by Dieter Kienast’s river view gardens in 2000. This image depicts a row of Santander-sponsored bicycles in the foreground, the original switch building, and the pre-war silhouettes of the original Bankside Power Station chimneys with St Paul’s quietly but ever present in the far distance.
